I had trojan zlob on my PC and it created an icon
on my taskbar for security software called AutoVirGear
or something. The virus is gone but i dont know how to get
rid of the icon. Anybody know how?

The virus is not gone. Your computer is still infected, probably with
AntiVirGear and not "AutoVirGear".

Removal instructions:

If you have difficulties with the removal instructions, register at
Bleeping Computer and post a HijackThis log. Read their posting FAQ
first. You'll get guided help.

Boy.....I am glad I read both this and Max's fixes for Antivirgear.
Just got a call from my neighbour (who has 3 teenage to 20 year old
boys).....he panicked because this *antivirus thingie* told him he had
115 spyware infections and for a mere $59.95 they would get rid of it.
Then he said the magic word......ANTIVIRGEAR!!

As we talked, I remembered these posts and told him I would talk to you
two and that it was a rogue program. I have now read the fix and man,
that is a long one and as I don't get malware usually, this will be
slow.

Luckily I made him put Zone Alarm and Avast on his computer about two
weeks ago. I checked and yes, they are still working. That is when I
began to suspect what this was.

If you have any other things I should know, I would appreciate it. I
will now send off an email to his computer so that I have all of the
links and stuff you guys recommended.

Thanks.....Heather
(and I will personally break his teenage sons' fingers if they do this
again, LOL......I took some trojans off two weeks ago!!!! Not sure if
it is porn sites or chat groups. But as #1 son was home from University
this weekend, I think I know which of the two it was....LOL.)

Today around noon, norton antivirus finally found it and deleted it.
It was in GDRTUL.DLL in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\
