I am running Windows 2003 Server on a DSL line and using IP mapping to
access some HTTP servers on it from the public Internet.
Recently, I've logged on to this machine a couple of times to find
that something called "MailCrawler" has been newly installed and I
usually find it running at 100% CPU. When I first saw this, I killed
the program, deinstalled the application, and did a complete virus
check of the entire machine.
Some time went by, then it all happened again: MailCrawler newly
installed, and running at 100%.
Is there malware that could be doing this, or should I assume someone
has figured out how to log in to my machine?
I do run VNC server on this box - after the first incident I changed
the password - but later it occurred again.
Thanks for any advice...
