If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
Hi ... A friend pick up a virus on his computer and she can't boot it up in
normal or safe mode , What are her options ? TIA

BTW : She does have Notorn anti-virus updated too

Hi ... Error its a " her " and I should also mention its windows xp , She
say that the computer just continues to run in a loop

If she can't get into Windows through Regular, Safe Mode, or Last Known
Good Config, then the only thing left is to boot with a rescue system
like ERD Commander (extremely expensive) or a Bart's PE and see what is
going on from there. Data can also be retrieved this way if necessary.

I don't know your skill level - or that of your friend - so if doing the
above is beyond her, then your friend needs to take her machine to a
professional computer repair shop (not her local equivalent of
BigStoreUSA).

Hi ... Thanks for your quick reply ... I am no pro or anything , I would say
above average though computer user ... I was thinking if she was to place
her xp disc in the cd rom drive , shouldn't she be able to boot off that ? I
mean just as long as the bios boot order first is cd rom , Wouldn't that
work ? And if so then she could try to remove the virus with her anti virus
program , yes or no ?

How do you know its a virus ?

Are you just assuming this or did Norton actually find something and then no
more boot ?
