I have several viruses that were found when I did a scan. When I was in the
process of removing them had to try my scan several times, my computer kept
auto restarting. It is to the point now where I can only run in safe mode. I
have upgraded my virus protection, it will let me install it, but it wont let
me open it or run a new scan. I have even tried microsoft scans etc., but
nothing will work while in safe mode. Can someone pleaseeee tell me how to
get rid of the viruses while in safe mode????

Go through these general malware removal steps systematically -
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Include scanning with either Sysclean or Multi_AV, plus Ewido. Do all
prep/finishing work and follow instructions to do all scans in Safe
Mode.

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the link above (not here, please).

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA).

Norton Antivirus runs in safe mode!

There is also a safe mode with network connections...

You can use this safe mode to download the virus definitions or even run
some removal tools.

To get to this mode use MSCONFIG:

Start > Run > and write MSCONFIG into the box. Press OK.

Select the "Boot.ini" tab and on this window select /SAFEBOOT,
on the right side of this option you will see radio buttons. Look up
"Network" and select it.

Now you can restart into the safe mode with network connection.
To go back to normal mode just open Msconfig again, select the first tab
"General" and there the radio button "Normal Startup", that's it.

You can then use Malke's tips from within the safe mode.
Many of the removal tools are indeed better used from here than form the
normal mode.

better yet restart your computer and when starting repeatedly press F8 until
advanced boot options appears then select and type of safe mode that fits
your situation

I suggest you switch to Norton AntiVirus 2006 or 2007

best of luck,
