Help, I keep getting a System Alert from an Icon on my task bar that is
constantly changing from a red X to a blue question mark. The Icon appears
on the task bar from startup. The System Alert message reads: Sytem has
dectected a number of active sypware applications that may impact the
performance of your computer. Click the icon to get rid of unwanted sypware
by downloading an up to date antispyware solution. If you click on the icon
it redirects you to a webpage for the product VirusProtect Pro. I think this
is a trojan. I have been unable to delete it. I have run scans on my
Norton, Spybot, & Spyhunter softwares and it never goes away. Please help

SuperAdBlocker should be able to remove it. You can find a link to this
tool on my Removal Instructions page(see below)

Thank you soooo much. That did the trick. It is gone along with other
virus, & trojans that I didn't know I had. The other software didn't pick
them up. Thank you for your time in helping me. I have bookmarked your
addresses for furture reference incase I get into trouble again.

Do the preparatory steps here:

http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Include scanning with David Lipman's Multi_AV and follow instructions to
do all scans in Safe Mode.

http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Multi-AV - instructions
http://pcdid.com/Multi_AV.htm - download

Then do the specific steps here:

http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Smitfraud_Trojan

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the first link above (not here, please).

Standard caveat: If the procedures look too complex - and there is no
shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a
professional computer repair shop (not your local version of
BigStoreUSA). Please be aware that not all local shops are skilled at
removing malware and even if they are, your computer may be so infested
that Windows will need to be clean-installed. Have all your data backed
up before you take the machine into a shop.
