My system alert keeps going off and I've checked the message. It says that
there is virus activities suspected and click the balloon to get all
protection. So after I click the balloon, a website comes up and requires me
to purchase software. Well, I have virus protection on my computer and there
is no need to purchase extras. Can you tell me how to make the system alert
stop? And by the way, I think it is a fake itself. I mean, they even spelled
the word balloon as baloon. Thanks, SE.....

That's a malware infection, probably Spysheriff related

Your computer is infected with some variant of the Smitfraud trojan. Go
through the preparatory steps here:

http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Then do the specific steps here:

http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Smitfraud_Trojan

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the first link above (not here, please).

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional computer
repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA). Please be aware
that not all local shops are skilled at removing malware and even if
they are, your computer may be so infested that Windows will need to be
clean-installed. Have all your data backed up before you take the
machine into a shop.

You are not getting a "system" alert. You are seeing an advertising alert
placed there by the malignant software that has been installed on your
computer.

No reputable company will ever advertise in this manner - by placing
software on your computer due to the fact that you visited a website or
opened an email.

You are infected!

hey just wondering would there be a way to munipulate that advertissing
virus so that it could be helpful ( ie : show your favourite icon and remind
you of tasks you need to do? )?

thanks in advance,
