Hi Folks,

I have around 250k files on my drive. I have SAV Corporate 10.0.1.1000
set to scan the entire drive, regress into zip files, etc. I've played
around with the settings alot to try to get this to work. However,
after the scan is done, SAVC reports only having scanned around 32k
files! Indeed, I just stumbled across some old infected files on my
drive which the disk scanned never found. This has been a problem for
me for quite a while now. I'm running XP SP2 Pro with NTFS.

I just recently installed the new version - 10.1.xxx.xxx, and it seems
to be scanning more files now. But in the end, I'm still concerned
that it might leave some files unchecked. Is there any way to verify
that SAVC is really checking all the files on the drive?

Thanks,
Allie

What exceptions have you entered for it to ignore?

What files/folders is it not scanning?

There are many file types that don't need to be scanned, what scan
options are you using when it's missing them?

None.

Hard to tell - scanned files aren't written to a log as far as I can
see.

I have no idea which files are being skipped - as far as I know,
there's no way to tell.

I just want to scan all files to be sure, even if some don't need to be
scanned. Once I'm comfortable that SAV is working properly, then I can
trim down the list of files. But first things first.

Thanks Leythos...

Open Symantec, select FULL SCAN, select ALL TYPES, click the Advanced
Button, Select "Scan resident portions of offline and sparse files",
click OK, uncheck Excluded files and folders, select Save Settings
button, select OK button, run scan.

See if that does it all for you.
