Mcafee shows on my software list but is not on my hard drive. I am trying to
download Norton but it will not load until Macfee is gone.
There are no Mcafee files on my hard drive. I just want to remove it from my
Software list so I can load Norton.
Can any one help?

Really Norton has sooooo many issues do more digging there are a lot
better company's to use.I had Norton and it screwed up my system
causing all kinds of errors and missed 3 viruses!Bit defender NOD 32
there are tons better than norton and most have free trials try
them.Save yourself alot of headaches!Norton is also a memory hog and
slows down your computer.

As a long time Nortons user, I am completely inclined to agree.
I recently got a new computer, and had the same experience with Nortons,
forcing me to reinstall Windows. I reported this in the a.p.s. group.

That is why I compiled this "short list" of good free programs to
combat virus and spy ware, that is recommended by trusted experts on
the subject. The list is starting to get long, so I broke it up into
categories.

You need to contact McAfee support services, because it's uninstallation
process is not completed. Generally when such software is unistalling it
deletes it's files, unregister COM servers, LSP's, deuninstalling drivers,
etc.

In AV buisness it's a rare situation when two AV's are working properly on
one PC. So it's not a surprise for me to see (or hear) that AV's are
detecting each other by registry records, registered COM servers (HKCR/CLSID
hive), etc... You need to clean all it after McAfee.
