I'm planning to set up a secure "lab" computer which I want to be
completely isolated from my home "LAN".

I was wondering if I can do this while sharing a connection to a cable
modem.

Could I:

A) Use two separate routers behind a single cable modem

or

B) Split the connection from the ISP to two separate cable modems.

If I use a single router's NAT to isolate the home LAN and the "lab"
computer, wouldn't it still be easy for a problem affecting the "lab"
computer to possibly damage the LAN? That's why I am thinking of some
kind of further "physical" separation might provide better isolation.

Thanks.

This is a question more suited for a networking News group.

No. It isn't completely isolated if there is any connection. It is most
certainly not securable if you are sharing a cable connection.
When I was working for a living, the only secure computers which had a
connection to the outside world were those with a dedicated line and
encryption equipment. A dedicated line is most assuredly not cheap.
