I have recently gotten a adware/spyware on my machine at home. When I browse
to any search engine and search for something, the located website is not
opened. For instance I go to google and search for Home Depot to get the the
offical home depot website. When I click the link for homedepot.com from
google it takes me not to the desired website but some other advertising
site. I go back to google and try again, but I get the same result. I try a
third time and finally get the desired website of home depot or whatever else
I was searching for. I have run Norton antivirus and Lavasoft's adaware
software and niether find any issues. Does anyone know how to solve this
annoying problem? Thanks

Go through these general malware removal steps systematically -
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Include scanning with either Sysclean or Multi_AV, plus Ewido. Do all
prep/finishing work and follow instructions to do all scans in Safe
Mode.

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the link above (not here, please).

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA).

This problem is less annoying than dangerous for your privacy , data and

You need to clean your computer from all the crap it has been infected with
. Perform the instructions here and report back your results

Took your directions and cleaned everything. My system is back to normal.
Thanks for the help! Do you recommend and particular antivirus/anti spyware
software. I was going to go pick up latest mcafee viruscan plus, is there
something else I should use?
