Even if anyone were to believe you weren't a script kiddie collecting
viruses/malware no one in their right mind would submit a sample(s) to you
for your collection! lol Your newbish request will be laughed at and mocked
since it is obvious you haven't a friggin clue how to test or collect and a
some AV scanners, although hotmail likes to pick crappy ones and have for
years (IMHO), unless they are very new in the wild examples/unknown not
picked up by heuristics, would not allow naked infectious files to pass the
gauntlet easily, as was sated previously and correctly but it you want your
lame kiddy friends to send you some tell them to use WinRAR with a password
and then WinZip or the equivalent to zip up the .rar and then most all AV
will not detect when sent through mail filters unless the attachments types
aren't are supported by the mail services filter system. And if you want
real info that is unbiased by people whom aren't endorsed by any of AV
companies and Anti-Spyware companies either who do real tests that are better
than any lame half arsed collection which anyone here including you will ever
have =p than check out these guys and learn the truth not hate bs that is
often being spoon fed to the masses by people here who think they can test an
AV with eicar crap. Hell anyone could right an AV in one night with some
coding knowledge to detect those lame test files ... THAT IS NOT A TEST!!!
And for the people who think they know about honey-pots or honey-nets also
get a clue how to set up a real one with VMware and a real sandbox using say
Linux not friggin just Win XP all by itself unless you wanted him to infect
the PC and corrupt it before he could determine how bad his fly-by-night AV
scanner worked. It is as bad as handing a guy a gun to protect himself after
you shoot him in the foot! hahaha please silly ppl get a clue use a real AV
scanner as your primary "monitor" and some good ones for second and tertiary
protection that are compatible and setup as on-demand manual scan only and
not buggy Norton crap why not try KAV as 1st aka. Kaspersky Anti-Virus Pro
99.6% accurate and/or maybe BitDefender Pro Plus and/or ESET NOD32 (best
heuristics for wild samples/unknowns). And yes I have tested many AV and
agree with http://www.av-comparatives.org because I have experience most of
the AV scanners they test over the years and hands down KAV is unbeatable in
accuracy although I don't use all of them at this time I DO have and use adn
keep up to date: KAV , NOD32, F-Prot (cmd line), AVP (cmd line), MS
Anti-Spyware, Ad-Aware Pro SE, SpyBot S&D, SpywareBlaster, Webroot Spy
Sweeper, IE-SPYAD, AnalogX Script Defender, CCleaner, VBA32 Console Scanner,
MailWasherPro, VMware Workstation, and more personal tweaks and integration
with programs so that I would have to be asleep at the wheel to get infected
and I really tend to not trust any AV or AS 100% and never will or should and
tend to spy into binaries and look for suspect code on my own with certain
editors and file analyzers and process and viewers port. Yes sad I have the
free time to do this for fun? ;) But unlike some I am not bs'ing about it I
can often disinfect unknown new samples in the rare case they get past the
blockade or if I feel like being risky and infect myself to test my skills
with non-HD wiping nasties of course and I have learned where the majority
hide and how and what to look for and where. This took years and I don't
suggest it to anyone just as I don't suggest testing or collecting zoo
samples to test your AV/AS scanners unless you like to play with fire and
risk everyone of your friends in your address book and the rest of the
INTERNET for that matter leave your "test" box offline if you might infect
others by your negligence and get a life and a clue. No one needs more
script kiddies or newbie mad scientists with a PC and 1/3 of a underdeveloped
brain. But if someone with a serious plan and some intellect and experience
wants to test their AV or several for a comparative that is fine just be
serious, know what your doing and be warned of possible consequences.... ;)
Have a Nice Day all! Don't get me wrong some of you do no what is going on
around here ...others sadly no clue what they are doing. ;-)

My eyes hurt from just looking at this.

My brain hurt trying to write it, albeit this being a poor representation of
what I was trying to say. ;-) Sorry for several typos and grammar mistakes
in my previous long rant. I tried to say to many things at once and went off
on some tangents. I was just a little perturbed by the foolish starter of
this thread asking for viruses and seemingly having no clue how to set up a
test box to run in a safe environment but I also notice most people who have
posted here wouldn't have a clue as to how to set up a "sandbox" either and
find it sad but than again most people see it as to risky/stupid/unnecessary
to do something like this to test Anti-Viruses but than again the most people
probably don't have enough samples to test an AV adequately with any useful
statistics/results.
So anyway I was overtired from insomnia that is my excuse for
ranting endlessly. ;) Hopefully no one took to much offense about some of
the things I mentioned but if so I am sure I will here about it =p. I hope
someone understood the points I was getting at though. I also wish there were
some more active posts and serious discussions here, as I see very few
threads, but I guess we all need to contribute for it to grow including
myself.
I also think as stated that some people put to much idealized
faith in many AV companies PR department. Also in several biased so called
tested such as those hosted on AV comparison sites which are also being paid
for with ads by the same companies they test for. There are some sites and
I won't name names but they have an obvious conflict of interest. But hey
these are just my opinions. All I was saying there was don't be reeled in by
hype or nice GUI AND packaging. Due some research, test several, for those
who haven't, read security forums for a good cross refers of opinions by
experienced users and never rely on just one. To me redundancy of protections
is the best security practice. Never rely to much on any one item they all
have pros and cons or shortcomings. And remember there is no such thing as
100% security (and never will be). Okay my diatribe is done. ;)hehe

Peace....
