I read you post in the other newsgroup,If I understand it correctly you "had
a virus" and removed it with an anti-virus program and now you have a
process that keeps popping up and you need to kill it.This tells me that
your system is not clean.
One thing I should point out to you, I've been coming to these ng's for
about 4 years now and David without any question is the authority on these
matters by far, even other "experts" will default to him. In the future you
might just want to listen to him or at the very least not dismiss what he
has to say.

HI Mike,

No, no. First it was not my machine. Second, Kaspersky
took care of the virus. This i verified by checking the registry
entries that kept popping up "before" I scanned with Kaspersky.
After Kaspersky, they went away and stayed away. Also the
pop ups with crap to buy disappeared. I scan afterwards with
both Kaspersky and PC-ciliin (not installed at the same time).

Can we all agree at this point that the computer in question
(not mine) no longer has a virus? If not, will you just let
me take responsibility for it?

Maybe I an too easily amused, but I enjoy defeating viruses
manually. I scan afterwards to see how well I did and to make
sure I do not mis anything. The reason for the post was that
I had gone after the virus with Bart PE, but Bart, for some
reason would not mount the weird SATA drive.

By the way this drive was weird. It would only mount
in that particular machine. I even removed it and tried
it on a USB hard drive interface I carry. Still would
not mount in Bart. But, I ramble.

So, that is when I decided to ask the groups for a better
processes viewer remover. I value others experience
and professional opinion. This is why I did not Google it.

Sorry about the name of the virus. I was/am guessing.
My memory faded too much. I did not think it was an
issue, as I was not asking for help removing it.

Anyway, that newgroup has a lot of great people
on it. It seems that the way I asked the question
triggered a lot of tangents. Although
this is not a "grammer" group, does anyone have
a suggestion as to how I could have reworded my
question so as to not trigger the unintended consequences
that I did?

Many thanks,
-T (A.K.A. Todd)

Mike,

Apparently you missed the part were I said:

"To be fair to Dave, he also wrote a very informative letter
about
the registry and where winlogon virus hid."

If there is any doubt that I did not appreciate or value his help
when he finally got back on topic, let me be very clear: I
appreciated his help. I even thanked his for it:

"Thank you! Very helpful. "

And, pretty nice of me too, considering he mis-quoted,
psychoanalyzed,
followed to another newsgroup, and called me a liar. He did not read
very closely
and jumped to conclusions.

I realize I am having problems with my writing. Would you
consider
that you just might have a wee bit of a problem with your reading?

I don't want to drag this out nor do I want to appear to flame you or cause
argument but...

Your original post contained TOO MUCH information. Most posters tend to post
too little
information and you have to pull teeth to get what's needed to give assistance.
In this
situation you gave too much information and one can only provide assistance, in
a News
Group, based upon what words you post with.

If you were seeking information on killing processes then that was all that was
needed in
your post. The additional virus related text was NOT needed for the problem at
hand. The
fact that that virus related information contained misinformation did not help.

I never called you a liar. That was your conclusion or presumption. I posted
that I
thought you were in denial based upon what you posted. I posted you didn't look
becuase you
didn't find Process Explorer which is easily found. You did post that you had
malware and
Kaspersky removed it then said you needed help killing Winlogon processes. I
had to
conclude based upon your own words that you were in denial. Nowhere in the post
was the
fact that this was a SECOND computer.

I did not "psychoanalyze" you or your post. I made false conclusions based upon
a post with
too much information that had inaccuracies/inconsistencies and a lack of
clarification.

Finally, I did not follow you here. On the contrary, I sent you here in that
thread in
m.p.w.g based upon the faux conclusion that you had additional malware that
needed to be
cleaned.

None of us are experts in communication. Hell, I am ashamed of all the spelling
errors I
find in my posts when I re-read them subsequent to hitting the "send" button.
However, it
is the content that is the *MOST* important both in the post and the replies.

Lets just all end this thread, learn from our mistakes (both sides) and use the
experience
to do do better in the future.
