I am having trouble getting rid of a virus on my home PC which my security
software (Trend Micro's PC-cillin 14) has IDed as TROJ_AGENT.AMV located in
the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\dssoundi.dll. My OS is XP Pro. I would be
grateful for any advice re. the following questions :

1. Is this file a valid OS .dll file or a fake one created by malware to
host the virus? If it is a valid OS file what does it do & what effect would
deleting it have?

2. The dssoundi file was created on 3 Jan 2006, but the problems with the
computer (slowing & erratic behavoir) didn't start unti 28 Jan when I
upgraded to the new version of PC-cillin & it detected the virus. As this
virus is apparantly mainly concerned with spying on browser activity rather
than causing damage it made me wonder wether it was the virus or the the
PC-cillin software thet is the cause of the problems. But someone has
suggested to me that virus' often change their behavoir when detected & start
causing system problems...is this likely?

Thanx for reading this!
