Can anybody suggest an anti-virus solution that can scan the contents of
*.pst, *.ost & *.dbx files? I am looking for a solution that can run from a
script and does not need to be installed.

I believe Avast scans DBX files. However these are database files and you can't
really
remove an email or news post from an Outlook Express DBX without corrupting it.
You can
scan within it but the you woul dhave to go into OE and remove the miscreant
message/post
manually.
When it comes to PST files (and OST files ?) any MAPI compliant anti virus
application (the
coprporate versions of McAfee and Symantec) can scan inside these files while MS
Office
Outtlook is open.
Forget about a scripted idea.
