I've encountered a Virus issue that I can't solve. Please can you help.
I've got an HP notebook running Windows XP.
The symptoms are:

- The Delete Key has been disabled (Also Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't work)
- In Outlook Express, emails get deleted from the Inbox and put into Deleted
Items before my eyes. This happens very quickly and is triggered when I try
and reply to an email.
- In Word, sentences are rapidly deleted from the page, automatically.
- When clicking on a file or folder on the desktop, the 'Confirm Folder
Delete' dialog box comes up, and refuses to disappear when you select 'no'.

I've tried re-building the machine using the system recovery CD's but the
problem still exists - even after wiping the hard disk.

Suggestions please - this problem is driving me mad!

Martin

PS: Would reinstalling the BIOS solve this?

It sounds to me like a keyboard problem with the delete key being stuck.

Hi Kerry. It's not a keyboard problem, because the deleting of emails and
text doesn't happen as soon as the machine is started up. There's a time
delay before the machine starts misbehaving.

Nevertheless it sounds like a hardware problem. All of your problems are
related to the delete key. Go into the keyboard options in the Control Panel
and change the Repeat Delay to as long as possible. Does this change the
behaviour?

ok it isn't a hardware fault even though it sounds like one, viruses would
be wiped from your system when you formatted the hard disk. Maybe it's a
virus then. Lets see if the "virus" is in your keyboard anyway by plugging
in a new one, why not.
