My parents got a new computer, and I
apparently damaged the Norton (symantec)
antivirus program. While trying to reinstall
I spoke with their Indian call center three times,
and I was unable to enter the key code they
had in a new downloaded program. So I had
to get the new updated version for year 2007.

My advice: Do NOT buy Norton, there
is NO competent customer support.

Try AVG antivirus http://www.grisoft.com/

They even have a free version.

A Pissed Off Customer

Gitmo is a war crime.

No kidding! Darn product also takes up a lot of room, slows your computer
down during startups and shutdowns, and like you said their help does not
help at all! I'm with AVG Free Anti Virus, works great!

Actually, Norton Virus is very effective.

(Hint: Read carefully.)

Right, perhaps the older versions are effective but not 2006, or 2007! They
are useless with too much on them and drain your pc's cpu, ram and take up
too much room! Sorry I don't care for Norton's anymore!

Yep, and its does heck of lot more than just detect and kill PC viruses.
That's what is further limiting PC performance in the more current NAV
versions. I did establish on recent install of NAV 2007 that it will not
install if ZA is installed per message at setup. (am talking just plain
NAV, not the security package with firewall) It will break MSXML 4.0
installations.
