Hi,

I have been offered a free 12 month subscription with McAfee VirusScan
Plus through my online banking. I am using indows XP Home with 512 Mb
memory, 2.8Ghz pentium P4, 80Gb hd x3, DVD writer, is the McAffe
VirusScan Plus any good? Is it worth installing for the year?

Thanks

Gerald

No. Both McAfee and Norton are pretty dreadful. Recommended antivirus
programs are NOD32, Kaspersky, and Avast if you want a free one.

Yes. I have about the same PC set-up. I use McAfee Enterprise.

The enterprise versions of McAfee and Symantec are a far cry from the retail
versions which - how can I delicately put this - STINK!

I wouldn't allow McAfee or Symantec retail **anything** on any computer I
work on. If people have already paid for it I, with their permission, remove
it and install freeware versions of programs that do better.

The major pain with NAV and McAfee was that they recognized ole16.dll as
virus soon after their installation. Because of that, our computers
(including my wife's computer) could not run. I installed AVG75 about five
months ago. Voila. Since then, computing has been so peaceful. I would
never upgrade or buy another NAV or McAfee. Roman
