I fought with spyaxe and zlob and got them removed. SAV doesn't report any
infections and there doesn't seem to be any malicious software running. I
have ran an assortment of programs to remove the malware including Rootkit
Revealer, Auto-Runs, HijackThis etc... I can't get MS Anti-Spyware to
install ... I get errors on installation about dll's not being able to
register. Some of the dll's are GCCollection.dll, gcAntiSpywareLibrary.dll
etc... I look at the error logs of MS Anti-Spyware and I get errors about
"ActiveX component can't create object" and "gcasDtServ not Authorized." I
have tried to register the dll's manually and I still get the same "unable
to register" error. I really want to install and run MS Anti-Spyware as it
has been good to me in the past. Is there anyone that can help? TIA.

I suggest posting your problem in one of the MS AS News Groups such as...

news://privatenews.microsoft.com/microsoft.private.security.spyware.install

To access the group you need to authenticate using...

User Name: privatenews\spyware
Password: spyware

Thanks partner, but I guess I got it working. I fiddled with the IE
security settings and re-registered wintrust.dll (et al) and the thing
started working. After all that crap MS Anti-Spyware reported nothing after
a full scan. I guess I did okay with the other software.
