Hi

My sons computer is loadet with lots of his pictures in jpg-fileformat. He
got the antivirus2009 infection and since that day he canīt see his files
any longer.
We tried a lot of antivirusprogram and the antivirus2009 is, we think,
partly removed.
Because of all pictures we wanted to back them up before formating. We
connectet his drive on another computer but the picture are not visible
there either. If we put a jpg file in his my pictures-map or create a new
map it is visible for a short time but diapeares after some seconds.
Now Windows XP hangs under start.
Help?
Jo

In your case I would boot with a Linux live CD and get the data that way.
Your computer is still not clean - and quite possibly you've infected your
other machine, too.

So:

1. Grab the data with Knoppix. You will need a computer with two cd drives,
one of which is a cd/dvd-rw OR a usb thumb drive with enough capacity to
hold your data OR an external usb/firewire hard drive formatted FAT32 (not
NTFS)*. To get Knoppix, you need a computer with a fast Internet connection
and third-party burning software. Download the Knoppix .iso and create your
bootable cd. Then boot with it and it will be able to see the Windows
files. If you are using the usb thumb drive or the external hard drive,
right-click on its icon (on the Desktop) to get its properties and uncheck
the box that says "Read Only". Then click on it to open it. Note that the
default mouse action in the window manager used by Knoppix (KDE) is a
single click to open instead of the traditional MS Windows' double-click.
If you want to burn CD/DVDs, use the K3b program.

*My understanding is that you can now write to an NTFS partition from Linux.
If you wish to do this, Google for instructions.

2. The most efficient way to clean off your son's machine is to wipe and
clean-install.

you will need on-hand

3. Because you accessed the severely infected drive on your other machine,
it would be very wise to scan that one for viruses/malware.

If you can't do the work yourself (and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea), take the machine to a professional computer repair
shop (not your local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad).

I too had a similar infection, the following malware remover helped me.

After installation when i did a scan, the machine bluescreened and i had to
boot the machine in safe mode to do a scan.
