Not necessarily. After all, it's been many years since laptops cost
that much, so it must be rather old.

its 3 years old so I do not rather think that it could be "old"

Well, in computer terms, 3 years is the equivalent of two human
generations, but it's been at least 5 years since even a high-end laptop
could be reasonably expected to cost anywhere near $3000.

I am pricing a Dell XPS M2010 getting the top or almost top of all the
options, but not buying extra AC adapters or software packages. The price
is currently at $6,595 before tax and a bundle savings. I did choose the
most expensive support and PC-Care bundle. You can easily get to $3k with a
notebook when you upgrade memory to 4GB, top of the line processor, and
screens that go to 20". This is Dell's most expensive notebook designed to
be a game machine, so you can get a business laptop for a lot less.

I see what you mean about the Dell XPS M2010, but that's hardly a
normal laptop, and it's definitely not a notebook. At 18+ pounds, I'd
even hesitate to called it "portable." One certainly wouldn't want to
travel regularly with it.

However, I'll concede the point that if one does wish to spend
outrageous amounts of money unnecessarily, there are vendors who will
meet their "needs...."
