I was downloading a program when sex.com became my home page and deactivated
the choice of “add or change home page” from internet options.
My spyware cannot find it.
At explorer page, at fileproperties it shows
c:\wint\system32\shdoclc.dll/…something http://sex.com
Please advice. What should I do?
Thanks in advance.

It sounds like the program you were downloading was malware. For
instance, if you were downloading a "free viewer" in order to see "free
movies", the viewer was a trojan.

Go through these general malware removal steps systematically -
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Include scanning with either Sysclean or Multi_AV, plus AVG Anti-Spyware
(formerly Ewido - http://www.ewido.net/en/) and follow instructions to
do all scans in Safe Mode.

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the link above (not here, please).

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional computer
repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA). Please be aware
that not all local shops are skilled at removing malware and even if
they are, your computer may be so infested that Windows will need to be
clean-installed. Have all your data backed up before you take the
machine into a shop.

Anti-spyware programs won't remove it. This may be an easier procedure if
you have another browser that hasn't been hijacked, (Firefox, Opera,
Netscape, etc.) try these steps. If you don't have one of the alternate
browsers, start your computer in "Safe mode with networking" and download,
install Firefox (don't import anything from Internet Explorer during the
install) and then.

1. Download hijackthis from http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
2. Install hijackthis on your C: drive.
3. Open the program and click on Do a system scan and save a logfile.
4. Save the logfile.
5. Visit http://www.hijackthis.de/
6. Either copy and paste your logfile contents into the space provided, or
7. Click on the Browse button and locate your logfile.
8. Click on Analyze
9. Wait a few minutes and the results will be displayed in the browser.
10. Follow the instructions for the "Nasty" entries. Don't just "Fix" things
that you don't know what they are. Google first.

Good luck.

Chuck , trust me , you can't guarantee that Malke's removal instructions
won't help . The OP must try them for sure . Otherwise , the hijackthis log
would be a really big mess . Moreover you give a link to a bot to an
obviously confused and not computer savvy person . Hijackthis is really
useful but dangerous tool and can harm the computer a lot if used not
adequatedly . Hijackthis.de definitely produces lots of false-positives.
