| I went to install AVG but the installer keeps quitting on me. Then I
| tried Norton and a couple others, and the same thing happened. Then I
| went online to seach for others and every time I went to the web site
| of an antivirus company, my browser shut down. Then I went to search
| for answers and every time I even type the word virus into my browser
| it shuts down. Everything else on my computer seems to be working fine.
| What is this virus I have that is causing all this mess and how do I
| get rid of it?? I tried installing those programs in safe mode but it
| wouldn't help me.

Download MULTI_AV.EXE from the URL --
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Multi_AV.exe

To use this utility, perform the following...
Execute; Multi_AV.exe { Note: You must use the default folder C:\AV-CLS }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

Execute; C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT
{ or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS }

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go
through your
FireWall to allow it to download the needed AV vendor related files.

C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT -- { or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS}
This will bring up the initial menu of choices and should be executed in Normal
Mode.
This way all the components can be downloaded from each AV vendor's web site.
The choices are; Sophos, Trend, McAfee, Kaspersky, Exit this menu and Reboot the
PC.

You can choose to go to each menu item and just download the needed files or you
can
download the files and perform a scan in Normal Mode. Once you have downloaded
the files
needed for each scanner you want to use, you should reboot the PC into Safe Mode
[F8 key
during boot] and re-run the menu again and choose which scanner you want to run
in Safe
Mode. It is suggested to run the scanners in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode.

When the menu is displayed hitting 'H' or 'h' will bring up a more comprehensive
PDF help
file. http://www.ik-cs.com/multi-av.htm

No need of installation.
Run ONLINE SCAN on your computer, generally every antivirus provide
Online Scanning facility.
Apart from it, check the processes in TaskBar. If you found any
suspicious name then end that process and try again.
Apart from it you can download AVG FOR DOS fro Grisoft( In safe mode).
Then restart your computer. Boot from clean disk and then scan your
hard disk for viruses. Or go to Command Prompt only and scan the
harddisk from DOS based antivirus, it will be a bit slow, but more
effective

/* Plaese do NOT correct me. You are not experienced enough ! */

The Multi AV Scanning Tool is a utility. It does NOT require a formal
installation.
The Multi AV Scanning tool is better than Online scanners because of numeerous
reasons...

1. It contains 4 different scanners form fours different vendors in one menu
driven
utility.
2. It has no reliance on an Internet Browser or Sun java.
3. The Multi AV Scanning Tool does NOT require and Internet connection. A
surrogate PC
can be used for the downloading of all needed files for each module and media
used to port
the utility to the affected computer.
4. Three of the modules use Command Line Scanners and as such can be used
within; Normal
Mode, Safe Mode, safe Mode with Command Prompt and with the Recovery Console.

Additionally, the Multi AV Scanning Tool uses the same signatures as their
Online siblings.
