A friend is running AVG (free edition) on her Win98 PC. Recently when trying
to download & save to her computer, Ad-Aware (from Cnet) AVG "warned" of a
trojan and refused the download. This seems rather strange and I was
wondering if anyone else has noticed this or has any information on this
"problem"?

tell your friend to download the latest update for AVG.
That should solve the problem.

Yes, this has been identified as a False Positive and as Max indicated, the
latest AVG
definition/signature files should correct this malady.
