If you're going to get Avast, you mine as well try AVG Free Edition, AntiVir,
or Bit Defender 8. These free anti-virus products' websites and download
links can be found on the Download page of my website: www.stopmalware.tk

I second Elendil's advise because if we are talking about free antivirus
software , AVG is the best of all free.Avast displays many false positives
and also has lower detection rate than AVG.

Anti Vir also seems to be nice for a "free" solution - i check it several
days and for now there is no problems with it

I use and recommend F-Prot Antivirus for Windows: $29/year for a
5-computer home license, or $50/year for a 10-computer commercial
license.

Try eTrust Anti-Virus, free one-year trial with full updates.
http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/ eTrust uses fewer system resources
than most A-V and is also used by ZoneLab for their professional firewall.
