Cheap but good antivirus software? Peter 03-22-2006

I have used Norton Antivirus for the last few years but I think it is
getting too expensive ($60+VAT for two years), and then I don't even
get a CD in case I need to reformat my harddisk. On top of that I have
a second computer. Frankly, I think the cost of this is getting out of
hand.

So my question is if someone can recommend another antivirus product
that is significantly cheaper but equally secure?

Hi Peter ! Well... your question is subjective .I mean it is very good but
all people here like different antivirus softwares and almost everybody will
tell you different opinions.I am telling you my personal opinion. I have used
Panda and Kaspersky and I don't like them for different reasons ! Now I use
Nod32 on all computers and find it really good.
You have maximum protection on low resourse with daily updates and advanced
heuristic. Norton is slow whereas Nod32 is much faster than it and even more
secure !
One year license for Nod32 for 1 computer costs $39
One year license for Nod32 for 2 computers costs $78
Two year license for Nod32 for 1 computer costs $59
Two year license for Nod32 for 2 computers costs $126

What I also find good in Nod32 is their tech support which I testes some
times and they replied me very faster and for free.May be this is just
accidentically but I don't know ... :-)

ESET is the company that makes Nod32.
See more info about it here:

No matter what AV software you choose to use , always try it before you buy
it using the free trial versions provided by the vendors.

I contacted their "support" once via e/mail and recieved an answer in 5
minutes time!
I couldn't believe it.

I find it difficult to believe also. Do you have any idea what the email
address was? I currently have a very strong desire to contact them myself.

Yes , almost the same happens to me.Well , I don't receive answers in 5
minutes but just in 3 or 4 hours which is really really fast.Other companies
answered me in 4 or 5 days and their reply always starts with : "We
aplologise for our late responce..." bla bla bla... :-)
