Hope someone here can enlighten me, I will state the problem.

I was given a computer last week, the owner bought a new one and I
believe I now know why.
After playing with the computer(offline, no internet connection) I realised
that it was full of malaware etc. The usual Newdot.net was there among
many others.
The computer doesnt have usb or similar, and I was wondering how I
could rid it of its infections.
I took an old c/d disk I have with all sorts of stuff on it and proceeded to
get an old version of 'Adaware' & 'Spybot' onto it. After running these
two proggies, they found 137 nasties between them.
I removed all of the obvious, rebooted, then did it again, then rebooted and
did it again.
Problem is, (as was when I was first checking out the computer) Defrag
and Scandisk send the computer directly in a bsod.......

It seems obvious that there are more virus's/trojans etc still on the comp.
My question is this:
"my computer is fully updated with Definitions from Adaware and Spybot,
is there any way I can transfer the updates to the other computer??"
or "is it a registry issue" that wont allow that.

Thank you in advance for replies and help.

Hello,

You can download the updates manually from their respective sites and
install them in the other PC.

The Spybot updates come in a EXE file allowing for easy updating and the ad
aware updates can be downloaded here
http://www.lavasoft.com/support/securitycenter/blog/ and placed in the ad
aware folder.

Thanks Singapore.....
Just a quick question before I do this,,
Will the Updates from each fit onto a floppy? I have run out of
blank c/d's til tomorrow, so I am hoping the updates fit a floppy.
(I meant, a floppy for each, not fitting them both onto one.)

Hello,

The Ad-aware updates do fit in one floppy, but the spybot updates are over
by a 600kb.

Why not use a USB thumb drive?

Hi Singapore,
thanks for help so far, just need a little more if you could.
I took the Adaware Updates over to the comp in question (after d/l-ing
them on this comp) and some more virus/trojans were found; after
deleting them and rebooting, I can finally now use Defrag.

I then loaded Ccleaner (from a c/d I have) onto the comp, but Ccleaner
says it needs the VB6 Runtimes and wouldnt instal.
I have now downloaded the VB6 file but it is in an .exe form.
Question, where do I put the .exe in order to run it? (fortunately, it too
fits
on a floppy so I can take it over to the comp in question.)
Also, the comp' we are talking about is:::
1)windows 98 (not SE)
2)poor thing only has 32meg of Edo Ram; four slots of 8meg

Lastly, the VB6 file I d/l'ed is actually called "vbrun60sp6.exe", does this
mean the computer it is going to be loaded onto must have sp1 or sp2?
(service pack 1 or service pack 2)

Thank you Singapore, I will check replies in about 4 hours.
