One of my PC's have got the subject attack. Can anyone help me clear this

Not unless you are MORE specific.

This includes what AV detected this and where and if you are using NTFS or FAT32.

Hi David,

The PC is running Windows 2000 SP4, NTFS and the AV is Symantec Security
Client. The threat is in the Master boot record for physical drive number 0 -
Boot sector.

How do I go fixing this ?,

Read what subject matter expert Zvi Netiv wrote.

The likelihood is that this is a False Positive declaration on NTFS using
NAV/SAV.

If the use of Symantec is mandatory then disable the boot sector verification.
What you are experiencing is a false alarm that this particular product is prone
to.
