I could not find a group for "Adware" so I hope this group can give me some
help. A Norton Antivirus scan reported an infestation of "Starware" on my
computer Norton directed me to Adware.Starware removal instructions which I
followed explicitly. Two recent scans report no problems but a search for
"Starware" has brought up several files and directories with that word
included in the name.

Can anyone suggest what, if anything more I should do.

Thanks for all help.

This is an apropos News Group. In the microsoft.* hierarchy thaere is not
adware/spyware
News Group so this virus News Group covers it.

However, there is the UseNet News Group; alt.privacy.spyware

Please download, install and update the following software...

Ad-aware SE v1.06
http://www.lavasoft.de/
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

SpyBot Search and Destroy v1.4
http://security.kolla.de/

After the software is updated, I suggest scanning the system in Safe Mode.

I also suggest downloading, installing and updating BHODemon for any Browser
Helper Objects
that may be on the PC.

You could try checking your system with an online scan like the one from
TrendMicro here:
http://www.trendmicro.com/spyware-scan/

If this comes up clean as well as your Norton scanner you can be pretty sure
your PC if okay.
Let us know how you get on

Thanks to both for replying. I ran TrendMicro which reported some cookies
and 7 Browser Helper items, Cleaned up those and ran TrendMicro and Norton
again. Both reported clean. Think I will quit now and see how it goes.
Norton Live Update runs frequently and a full scan every day at lunch time.
Thanks again..
