Hi,
I am looking for an affordabe pc-based softare that can digitally sign
both ms office documents (word, excel) as well as pdf's. Does it
exist?

Well, I am not sure how to sign word & excel files but I know that signing
a pdf can be easily done.

I wrote a command-line application that can do this. As certificate source
pkcs#12 files or pkcs#11 can be used.

It is available for free on:
http://private.sit.fraunhofer.de/~stotz/software/jpdfsign/
