Hello,

I plan to take CISSP certification. Apart from CISSP certification, what
other certifications are valuable(apart from experience, which I do have a
lot in the consulting arena). Excuse my modesty and ignorance! ;-)

Seriously, I would like to know other security certifications that are
considered valuable by employers. CISA/CISM certifications are conducted
only once a year. I got to wait for that comet to come by again. On the
list, I have seen folks with BS7799 certification. How do you get certified
as a BS7799 analyst? What certifications do add value to my career? What
industries (apart from consulting services) are seeking these
certifications?

Any information and advice is appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

BT

BT,

I think you are slightly off the mark with BS7799. Isn't that a
corporate certificate, rather than an individual one?

Having said that, you can become qualified as a lead auditor I
understand, which enables you to audit corporates against the
standard.

The main user group for BS7799 (ISO17799), by the way, is at
http://www.17799.com

Another area you might look is ITIL. This is more service management
related, but there is a security element in there.

Hope this helps.

'Valuable' covers a multitude of sins. What role to you care to fill? I have
a CISSP and a CISA, have the NSA IAM, am studying for the PMP, and will
probably do the work for the CISSMP after that. But there are things like the
CISM (an odd thing for a consultant, IMHO), GIAC,...

So, what are YOUR goals?
