VULNERABILITY SUMMARY:
A potential security vulnerability has been identified with HP
OpenView Operations where a missing authentication check could be
remotely exploited to allow unauthorized access.
SUPPORTED SOFTWARE VERSIONS*: ONLY impacted versions are listed.
OpenView Operations version 7.x for HP-UX
OpenView Operations version 7.x for Solaris
OpenView VantagePoint version 6.x for HP-UX
OpenView VantagePoint version 6.x for Solaris
BACKGROUND:
OpenView Operations offers the functionality to read and write
files and to execute commands on managed systems with
administrative rights on the target system. There is a potential
vulnerability which could allow unauthorized remote access to
that functionality without checking for administrative rights.
AFFECTED VERSIONS (HP-UX)
Note: To determine if an HP-UX system has an affected version
search the output of "swlist -a revision -l fileset"
for an affected fileset. Then determine if the
recommended patch or update is installed.
