There are millions and millions of computers running Microsoft Windows,
many of which are prone to becoming zombies. (Many of the packages have
inbuilt support for this: including Internet Explorer, Outlook Express,
Microsoft Word, other Microsoft Office components, and other tools that
autorun (or even click to run) untrusted malicious dropper code.)

I reckon you can expect about 3 hits per minute from botnet zombies, if
you are connected to the internet. Botnets are really sophisticated these days
and may do something quite specific against your host.
