If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
Do I need IPSec on a standalone workstation running XPpro connected to
the internet?

Would not having IPSec running compromise my system.

Is your Google defective? Your connection to the server ietf.org broken?

Oh goody, Just what I wanted to do - spend a few hours reading through
stacks of IETF drafts!

Anyway it looks as if I only need IPsec if I want to set up a VPN

Just reading the introduction that tells about the purpose of IPsec would
already be enough.
