Hello,

I need to remove Norton Anti-Virus 2005 because it interferes with my
service provider's anti-virus. In my ME computer, I choose Start -
Settings - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs. I see Anti-Virus 2005,
but when I choose 'Add/Remove', the program is not removed. Windows
displays no indication of removing anyhting (As it usually does when
removing programs by stating 'removing files, DLLs', etc..), and when I
invoke Add/Remove programs, Norton Anti-Virus reappears.

When I choose Start- Program, neither Norton Anti-Virus, nor
Symantec,is there. Thus, it is mainly removed, but not completely. For
example, when I execute 'regedit', I see many Symantec settings.

How can I completely remove Norton Anti-Virus 2005 from my ME
machine?

Should I remove all of the Symantec settings from the registry?
(I don't use any Symantec product other than Norton).

Also, perhaps I need to remove Norton Anti-Virus completely by removing
registry settings other than the 'Symantec' ones.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
BASIS Consultant

Reinstalling Norton Anti-Virus 2005 might install the files needed to do the
uninstall. Even if you are then able to do a normal uninstall there will still
be remnants left. You will have to manually remove files and directories,
including common files, and registry entries such as "Symantec" and "Norton" to
remove all traces of the installation. Also remove any entries in Autoexec.bat.

Hi! Would you want to be part of a class action suit against Norton. It
screwed up my XP. Your are right the sell defective product and are
unreacable for a refund. We all should be eligible for a refund of our
money.

You can go to Norton on the web. They provide a means to remove the
program. It involves regedit and other nasty things. Just follow the
step by step directions.

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/d4578f66d8f00a0188256d4e006aaa94/7acf65b345b0449f88256d7700623839?OpenDocument&prod=Norton%20AntiVirus&ver=2004%20for%20Windows%202000/Me/98/XP&src=sg&pcode=nav&svy=&csm=no

If I did it you can.
