I have Norton Internet Security 2004. The firewall says it has created
390 rules. How can I view these?

The reason I ask, is I was doing something on my local computer, and a
Norton popup came up and said "win32.exe" was trying to access the
internet (recommend OK). Since I wasn't doing anything on the net, I
told it to block it (without thinking). I could no longer access the
internet with the firewall on after this. I looked under programs, and
could not find that this program was blocked. Finally, I went to the
logs, and it showed I created a rule (which I couldn't find) to block
SVCHOST.exe (oops). In desperation, I created a rule for SVCHOST.exe,
and a popup says there already was a rule to BLOCK SVCHOST.exe, and I
changed it to permit. How can I find ALL these rules? I do not like
Norton--it works well, but it is confusing.

Jim,

1. Open Norton Internet Security.

2. Double left click Personal Firewall.

3. Click on Programs.

4. Scroll through the Manual Program Control to view your current
rules, change them, etc.

Hope this helps.

You can't find them all in one place. Some are application dependent
rules which you find in the list of programs. Some are general rules
always applicable and some are special trojan rules. The only list of
all rules I remember was on the network status window. The window listed
the rules with the number of times each rule fired. This list was I
think comprehensive, but gives you only the names of the rules, not
really pointers where to find them. But if you look at it closely you
will notice that there are different sections: the first rules are the
general rules, later there are the application rules. If you check the
rules before and after a specific rule in question it should give you
additional pointers where to search...
