I have opened up the ports (both router and F-Secure software firewall)
necessary to be able to play Half-Life 2 over broadband. How serious a
risk does this pose? Has there been a virus written that will exploit
these open ports?

Nothing can exploit a port opened in a firewall, it is the services
listening on those ports that can be exploited. Your question then is
"are there any known vulnerabilities in the Half-Life 2 clietn software?"
