If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
Withe problems I am having making a connection using PCAnywhere it has
been suggested that a recent update (Windows XP) may have some how
installed a Firewal or some such filtering device which compromises
PCanywhere.

Anyone throw any light

Service Pack 2 installs a firewall.

In control panel you can change the Internet Security firewall to open
ports. The easy way to test is simply turn the Firewall completely
off. Then see if PCA works.

SP2 adds in a firewall. If you already have a firewall installed that
is SP2 aware, then you probably won't need to make any changes.

From a Symantec support note, if you have version 10.5 or newer, it
will update the firewall settings as needed if you log on as an
Administrator, start pcAnywhere, and answer a few prompts.
