With Live 365 having changed its system where the end-user
cannot get the IP and port for a direct connection,
Tor is the one option for Live 365 listeners who want
to listen from work.

And with the Cup Of China figure skating competition,
especially the dance, going on right now, I had a HUGE
nuumber of connections going into my public Tor entry
proxy to get online coverage from one of three locations.
They were either getting it from us, from CCTV5, or
from a Russian pay site. One thing I did not see until
just a few minutes ago was that the load was enough
that the Tor proxy software broke under the load.
I sometimes surf through my own Tor proxy to see that
it is working, and I was getting an error message saying
the proxy was not working. After checking the logs,
I found that that there were connections from corporate
networks all over Europe, especially during the final
flight of skaters in the ice dance, because of the number
of European competitors. Its a wonder the whole machine
did not crash under the load, being that one site now
offers a 991K feed of CCTV5, that only requires Windows
Media Player, without having to install any of the
various P2P TV clients. All they had to do was
change the proxy configuration to use my proxy,
and they were good go go.

Between us, NTV, and CCTV5, there were three places to
get coverage of the Cup Of China yesterday, and that
corporate networks in Europe were connecting to my
proxy in HUGE numbers to bypass filtering, and get
the competition.

While skating's popularity has dropped off quite a bit
in America, it has always been hugely popular in Europe,
and the hits I was getting to my proxy from office networks
in Europe prove it. The CCTV feed being watched runs
at 991K, and NTV+, from the Russian pay site, runs
at variable bitrates between 782K and 1011K, as
well as connections to the figure skating boards at
Figure Skating Universe and GoldenSkate.

When detected, and it's easy to detect, will be fired or other, and they
will come looking for you - for enabling them and tell them it won't be
caught.

Again, it is NOT illegal for them to do so, as long they are not
breaking any password. If the filter FAILS to block it, then
it is NOT illegal for them to access, and they CANNOT
BE PROSECUTED if the filter and/or firewall FAILS
to block it.

And besides, I am not much worried about inadvertantly
breaking any laws I might not know about since I use
Evidence Eliminator and/or KillDisk on all the station's
equipment on a regular basis. Contrary to popular
opinion, you CANNOT be prosecuted for using these
tools, and unless there is an investigation and you
KNOW about it. Unless there is some kind of
investigation that they can PROVE that you were
aware of at the time you used such tools, you
have NOT violated ANY laws in ANY country.

That is why I advocate using EE, or tools like it,
often, BEFORE you become aware of any
investigations launched against you.

And, again, you telling people to violate company policy, where they get
fired, is going to get your sorry butt in trouble.
