I have a Belkin router. Every once in a while when I make an http
request, the router hijacks it and makes a redirect to
filter.belkin.com, resulting in web spam from belkin - an ad for a
parental control feature on the router. This is ridiculous. Not only
is it annoying, but it could cause problems for any programs that make
http requests and expect to get back what they asked for.

How can this problem be remedied?

Turn off the HTTP filtering feature on the router. Alternatively return
it to the supplier as 'not fit for purpose'. For anything more detailed
you're going to need to provide some details.
