Howdy. A friend of mine has the free version of Avira.

All of a sudden, an attempted update yields the error message to the effect
that:

no valid license file available

Any idea what is going on?

Should he just remove the program and re-d/l it?

Mel

Yes. Remove it, download latest and install the latest.

Does Avira have a timed license similar to Avast? (You need to
re-register every 14 months.) Were you mucking about on the hard drive?
Try other products such as SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes AntiMalware
to see if you have a trojan killing your a-v software.

Sounds like the blunt force trauma solution, and may not work as
registry entries already exist.
