Some antivirus software moves the infected file to quarentine and
another copy of it to a backup. This is so the file can be disinfected
at a later stage as soon as definitions show the antivirus software
how to remove the virus body from the infected file. This is not
always possible as in the case of a trojan which itself does not
infect any files. In this case the trojan should just be deleted as
there is nothing to disinfect.

Example is when a virus is detected in a file by heuristics *or* by a
beta definition. The antivirus software thinks there is an infection
but doesn't yet have instructions on how to deal with it.

Thanks... Sounds plausible to me. I guess I'll just bite the bullet and
delete it.

I have run many scans and everything comes up clean. Not only Norton's, but
many others. Nothing shows up.
