Hello.
I have detected viruses in the following files on my 32-bit Vista system:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\SearchFilterHost.exe (modified 5/27/2008)
C:\WINDOWS\winsxs\x86_windowssearchengine_31bf3856ad364e35_7.0.6001.16503_none_3b8c27e8ba3dd3dd\SearchFilterHost.exe
(modified 5/27/2008)
File sizes, dates, and Checksums indicate that these are two copies of
the same file.
My Malware protector has "quarantined" the files, but says it cannot
remove them safely, presumably because they are part of the OS.
Since they have been quarantined (and supposedly rendered inoperable)
the OS seems to keep working fine.
Can someone explain the purpose of these files? A search of the
microsoft support website is not yielding information that is useful, at
least to me.
Is there any way I can manually replace these files?
Thanks.
