My Macafee Virus Scan found a file named BEYOND.CLASS in a folder labeled:
c:\Documents and Settings\My Name\Application
Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar\counter.jar-7271642a-72f394d2.zip

Detected as: Exploit-Byte Verify
Detection Type: Trojan
Status: No action Taken (Delete failed)

I looked for it and found no folder in documents and settings called
application data, nor do I find folder 'javapi' when I search for it.
Macafee can't delete it, but it detects it every time I scan my hard drive.
Does anyone know how to get rid of this virus?

Application data may be hidden. Go to tools>folder options>view>click
show hidden files and folders and click apply/ok.

You should see this now.

rmroberts76,

Clear the Java cache;
Start>Settings>Control Panel>Java Plug-In>Cache (tab at top of page)>Clear
(button)

A Java Trojan exploit was found in a .CLASS file inside a Java Jar (ZIP type
file) and you
have to clear your caches to remove this Trjan exploit.

1) Dump the contents of your IE cache -
Start --> settings --> control panel --> Internet options --> delete
files

2) Dump the contents of the Mozilla FireFox Cache { if you use FireFox }
Tools --> Options --> Privacy --> Cache --> Clear

3) Dump the contents of your Sun Java cache -
Start --> settings --> control panel --> Java applet --> cache --> clear
or
Start --> settings --> control panel --> Java applet --> general -->
settings -->
delete files

Then, re-scan your system.
