I checked out all of the wires and connection and everything checked
out ok. I moved the IR from
Zone 4 to 5 (no resistor) and heres the summary:

ZN ZT P RC HW : RT
05 04 1 10 NC 1

I now get a FAULT05 so zone 4 most likely has a problem. Its been
disabled for now. I havent gone back to
*182/184 to check but I recently did a *97. At least the system is
seeing the IR.

First, Thank you very much to the individuals that were actually
interested in helping find and isolate the problem.
I very much apppreciated your suggestions!

The problem was an intermittent short between the power wire and one
of the signal wires behind the wall.
This cable cannot be replaced due to the location so I will either
need to relocate the sensor or go to a wireless
PIR. Im sure some of you cant wait for me to try to install a
wireless unit! :^)

There is a simple solution to that problem 50% of the time, Rick. Most
burglar alarm panels use the negative as a common return for the zones
(sensing circuits). If the negative is shorting one of the zone wires and an
EOL is in use at the sensor it can cause a fault on the zone. Disconnect the
negative wire at the panel and the sensor. Run a short jumper between the
negative side of the zone wiring and the negative power terminal in the
sensor.

The reason I said the solution is simple 50% of the time is that it could just
as easily be the positive wire causing the problem. In that case, you have
disconnect the positive at the panel and the sensor and then shuffle the
remaining three to get the same effect. You can test which wire is at fault
with a multimeter first.
