I've been looking for some place that sells the same heavily insulated
UV stabilized 3 pair (or more) POTS cable that SBC uses from the pole
to the point of demarcation for an alarm install. Has any one seen a
place that sells the stuff in small quantities? 25 feet would be ideal
(I need less). I think the shortest length I've found thus far has
been 500 feet. I'd ask a lineman to sell me his scraps but I never see
a truck around and the only telco lineman I know moved out of state a
while ago.

TIA!

Try to find a local supplier that may have short ends.

I'm surprised at you Crash... What should he do?? Walk up to some guy
behind a counter and ask if he "has a short end"?? That's liable to earn
him a swift kick out the door!!! :-))
