I am tired of changing batteries. Since the alarms have A/C, couldn't
the A/C be continually charging a backup battery? Where do I find

The battery in your car gets charged up every time you drive it, yet you
still have to replace it every few years...same with alarm system batteries.

3-5 years is about average for alarm system main battery backup life.

If you're talking about wireless devices...depends on what brand.

In an alarm system they would be backed up at the central battery in the
alarm panel.
There is no need to run around and change battery's. Your panel one would be
changed out every four years.
and tested weekly.

Could it be that they are not part of an alarm system? I lived in a house
with individual ac wired smoke detectors with a 9 V battery backup in each
detector, but the smoke detectors were not part of an alarm system.
