Okay, in trying to clear space on my Hard Drive, I found these two
things I don't know for sure what they are, what (if anything) they are
doing there, and how to get rid of them if they're not doing anything.

Download Reader 7 2.pkg, dated last year
Download Reader 7 pkg, dated year before last

Obviously I must have tried at different times to look at websites with
material requiring downloading various versions of Adobe Reader 7. If
it was successfully downloaded, why doesn't it say the name of the
application instead of "Download"?

I do have Acrobat Reader, and it says it's 5.0. Does this mean 7 was
never downloaded, or are they two different things? If I do have 7,
how can I verify that I have it? If it wasn't successfully downloaded,
I'm upgrading to Mac OSX 10.3.9 soon and presumably Acrobat Reader will
be updated accordingly? Short of erasing my Hard Drive, how the heck
do I get rid of these things? Every time I put them in the trash it
says they can't be thrown out because things, a long list of items on
them, are locked, but I have no idea whether they're actually doing
anything! If not, I don't want them. Thanks for any advice. Help!

I think you're pretty safe deleting these - look in Info (highlight the
icon and press Command-i) and untick the Locked box in the top section.
This should allow you to delete them. I'm sure there was a way of
forcing a delete or empty trash with locked files in it, however I
don't seem to be able to find any info on that for OS X, perhaps
someone can enlighten us!

Thanks, everybody. They were annoying me. Now I can get rid of them.
