I've been looking around for a god free antivirus that uses less memory than
the Symantec program I am running.
I came across this (AVG7 - avg71free_394a763.exe ) and have downloaded it,
but haven't executed it yet, rather deciding to get opinions here before
installing it.
I am running WinME w/ 191 MB RAM.
Has anyone had good/bad experiences with this antivirus program?

Thanks

I've been using it for a couple of years now on a variety of machines
- never had a problem.
Then again, I've never had a virus...
You could always try asking in alt.comp.freeware.

If you're otherwise happy with the Symantec AV, why not invest in
another stick of ram - it'll help things along a treat.

Thanks Stephen,

Actually, this is a computer I gave my mother and she basically uses it for
e-mail and looking at genealogy. It's a little older and I hate investing
more money (RAM) in it considering what it's used for.
I guess I can always re-install Norton if AVG doesn't work out for her.
Thanks again, I appreciate your answering.

You might want to consider using Pegasus as an email client then.

Have you thought about installing Linux? Ubuntu 6.06 is getting a lot of
praise. That would be a malware-free, no-cost solution.
