I have successfully downloaded Sophos , and Trend dbs for MULTI AV, but
something happens when I try to do the same thing with McAfee. I have a
dialup connection, so I usually get it started, [everything seems normal
when starting, progress is visible] and I go do something else. When I
return I get a small error message [ this has appeared even with Sophos and
Trend ], and If I try to scan something happens and MS Explorer reboots. A
look inside the McAfee folder shows this:

<quote>
Directory of C:\AV-CLS\McAfee

07/05/2008 07:30a <DIR> .
07/05/2008 07:30a <DIR> ..
10/26/2004 04:40a 7,449 rwabs16.dll
1 File(s) 7,449 bytes
2 Dir(s) 1,322,221,568 bytes free

<unquote>

I have looked at this directory in an earlier attempt, and it had a 700kb
scan engine in it also. I do not know how that got deleted. I have tried
both FTP and HTTP modes.

---------------------------
Error
---------------------------
SDStbRes.dll: The specified module could not be found.

---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
plus, it will then popup and ask me if I want to scan. It doesn't matter
what I decide. Also the internet connection is dead. Status box doesn't
indicate, but no email can be downloaded, I have to restart it. Even after
downloading more that 13mb into the McAfee folder , nothing except what I
showed earlier is shown in the folder. I think whatever is killing my
internet connection may be at fault. I have found that Comodo and Spyware
Terminator realtime shield can kill it. I removed them and still seem to
have a problem.

OK. Danke.
The message "SDStbRes.dll: The specified module could not be found." is
generated if the
SuperDAT EXE is not downloaded completely and/or is corrupted and is displayed
when the
SuperDAT is executed to extract the engine and signature files.

Right now the full SuperDAT is someting like 54MB.

Something has been knocking out the connection. I don't know why it didn't
with the Sophos and Trend, but it has consistently done it with McAfee. I'll
try again after removing something until I find it.

thanks for answering
