For incoming e-mails, why do you need a doubled alert? If the on-access
scanner found a pest, it would popup an alert window telling you of the
pest. You don't need to then also read it in the e-mail. And later if
you ever attempt to save the suspect attachment in the e-mail, you'll
get another alert from the on-access scanner. Scanning e-mail is
already redundant as just mentioned: you get an alert when the e-mail
arrives of the pest and you'll get an alert if you later try to save the
suspect attached file. E-mail scanning only changes when you see the
alert (and how many times you see it). And you want to add a 3rd
redundant alert in the form of modifying your inbound e-mails?
Be aware that anyone sending you digitally signed e-mails will have
their digital signature corrupted by this appended superfluous alert
added to that e-mail.
Regarding add the superfluous alert in outbound e-mails: you really
think anyone is going to waste their time believing what YOU claim is a
pest-free e-mail? They'll use their own anti-malware software to verify
your e-mails are pest free. Geez, some unknown sends you e-mail with an
attachment and you are really going to believe them that their e-mail is
okie dokie regarding the executable that is attached? If you do, you
get infected a lot. The text added to the body or headers of an e-mail
that says it is pest-free is worthless to anyone other than you.
Be aware that when you send digitally signed e-mails that the on-access
scanner is going to modify it after that message has already been
signed. So the AV program will corrupt your digitally signed e-mail and
the recipient will be led to belief that someone has modified your
e-mail that they received.
E-mail scanning is redundant. Adding text claiming that an e-mail is
pest-free is worthless.
